How to Make the Most of your Dining Room

Has your dining room table become something of a long forgotten relic hidden beneath a mountain of clutter? It’s never too late to turn it from wasteland to wonderland with a statement table that looks as impressive as it does inviting.

It’s easy to use the dining room table as a dumping ground for piles of laundry and just about anything else that you never seem to find the time to put away. With one of our impressive dining room tables in your home, you won’t want anything obscuring the view.

Clutter is the most unsightly thing in any home, but our storage solutions are key to keeping everything out of sight and out of mind. Don’t let anything stop you from showing off the newest addition to your home to your friends.

Nothing should obscure your dining room table so make sure you have enough storage capacity in cabinets, side boards, display units or bookcases. They'll complete your dining room beautifully as well as giving you somewhere to display all of your favourite photographs, trinkets and ornaments.

Once you have found the perfect furniture for your dining room, how do you get the most out of the rest of the room?

When you have all of your furniture pieces in place you can start thinking about the style of the room. The decor, the colour scheme and the accessories are all just as important as the furniture pieces and will make a massive difference to the overall feel of the room.

Some of our furniture collections come with the option of a painted finish which is a great place to start when picking out the rest of the decor for the dining room. Always start with the larger, investment pieces such as dining room tables and work around them. It’s always easier to change the colour of a room, but not as easy (or cheap) to change all your furniture.

The arrangement of the room is another really important feature that can make the difference between a dining room dream and a dining room disaster. Obviously this depends a great deal on the layout of your dining room and the relation to the kitchen.

Make sure you place the table somewhere where there is ample space for the number of chairs you have. There is nothing more uncomfortable than being squashed around a table at a dinner party and not having enough room to push your chair back.

When choosing your chairs it is a great idea to test them out first to ensure they are comfortable as well as stylish. Of course this will be no problem at all when you pop down to one of our friendly showrooms, so come and see for yourself what we can do to help you on your way to a beautiful dining room to be proud of.
