Bedroom Storage Ideas
Practical, functioning bedroom furniture with lots of storage doesn’t have to be boring. Whether you're furnishing your own bedroom, a child’s bedroom, your home's guest bedroom - we don’t believe that you should have to compromise stylish storage.
But neither should adding storage capacity result in a room so cluttered with furniture that you're unable to move. So... how to square that circle?
Picking furniture that can do double duty is a good start.
Wardrobes, chests of drawers, blanket boxes, and dressing tables with built-in drawers are excellent examples of traditional bedroom storage. These pieces look wonderful in any room of the home, but are particularly useful in the bedroom for housing shoes, clothes and other personal items.
For many of us, though, having all these pieces in a bedroom leaves little room for mirrors, seating, or display space. And even pieces finished in light colours can overwhelm a small bedroom.
So what else can you do to add storage to your bedroom while keeping a light, airy feeling in your bedroom?
- add storage to areas you wouldn't otherwise use - like under your bed or in corners. You may find you don't "need" that second chest of drawers after all.
- choose a wardrobe with mirrored doors, and save space on a floor-standing mirror. Plus, mirrored wardrobe doors will add light to your bedroom, too!
- go even further, and choose a wardrobe with sliding doors. They're fabulous for making smaller bedrooms feel roomier.
- add cushions to the tops of blanket boxes and use them as impromptu seats... that chair you've been tripping over every time you went to bed? No longer needed!
These multi-functional furniture pieces are a fantastically practical solution for bedrooms where space is limited.
And don't forget that other fabulous bedroom storage idea: decluttering!
A good decluttering session will immediately give you lots of storage space you didn't know you had. And leave your bedroom feeling brighter and calmer.
