A Place Just Like Home?
We always love to find out where our furniture ends up and what use it's being put to. In the past, customers told us about brand-new homes, university digs, children's rooms, a new conservatory, and even a narrowboat!
But - as far as we know - we've never furnished a place like this one. A home for vulnerable teenagers in Somerset.
While we've been busy relocating our Bicester store, our delivery teams were also hard at work to help set up the first of ten homes of Somerset's Homes and Horizon's project.
This home - supported by Somerset County Council, Homes2Inspire, and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust - will house up to four children, for whom foster care or residential care is not suitable or practicable.
Children in care often struggle to find a real sense of home and belonging, particularly when their placements don't work out, and they have to be moved. It's that lack - along with specialist education, care, and counselling - that the new home is hoping to address.
The house has a beautiful open and airy living room, a family kitchen, cheerful bedrooms, and a garden - and we'll hope that it will make a wonderful home for children who really need it.
As a company who's helped people turn their houses into homes for over thirty years, we're chuffed to be part of this project!
