Spring Decor: Bright Splashes of Colour

When the evenings draw in and summer shifts into autumn and winter, many of us reach for richly coloured accessories and soft furnishings to give our homes a feeling of warmth and comfort. Spring decor is equally colourful, but at this time of year, when we crave light after the dark, dreary days of winter, we opt for bright splashes of colour. Cut flowers – daffodils, tulips, and freesias – are the first heralds of spring along with crocuses, hyacinths and primroses. And they add much appreciated cheer.

Spring decor, especially early in the season, is often a mix of neutrals, soft pastels and bright splashes of colour that lends itself perfectly to creating calming bedrooms or uplifting living spaces without entirely leaving the comfort and warmth of winter decor behind.

At this time of year, this is often necessary. Winter clings on by its fingernails. While there are bright, sunny spells, we usually also get our share of showers and grumpy, overcast skies. So, the cosy fleeces and soft blankets that we’ve piled on sofas and armchairs can’t be packed away quite yet.

That’s when a vase of bright yellow daffodils adds cheer. Freesias and hyacinths will add their delicious scents. And even the calmest neutral colour scheme will light up with a couple of branches of lilac.

If you’re decorating and want to capture the uplifting vibe of spring, you can’t go far wrong with shades of purple. From the palest hint of lilac to more vibrant amethyst, purples can help you create a wonderful calm bedroom, or a bright, welcoming kitchen.

And if you’d like something a little less Zen? Then why not take a look at this month’s signature colour … cayenne. Spicier than shades of purple but just as cheering, this colour works well in living and dining rooms, whether paired with neutral shades like wood and wicker, or furniture painted in shades of white or cream. Teamed with dark brown or even black cayenne can help you create an invigorating home office. It’s also a fab colour to show off your favourite plants!

As you can see, while colour may still be a little sparse outside, spring decor has no such limitations. Whether you crave bright and invigorating, or Zen and uplifting… spring colour schemes are a great choice. And if you need the furniture and accessories to match your new colours, you know where to find us.

We’d be delighted to help out!
